KW DECA Excells At State Competition

Wyoming DECA held its State Career Development Conference in Cheyenne on February 4-6. Twenty members of the Kelly Walsh DECA chapter, along with their advisors, Mary Hopper and Jill Thompson, attended. DECA’s mission is to enhance the co-curricular education of students with interests in marketing, management and entrepreneurship. DECA helps students develop skills and competence for marketing careers, build self-esteem, experience leadership and practice community service. Students participated in tests, individual and team role plays, as well as research events.

The following students won certificates for top performance in testing: Jon Bolding, Ali Gobble, Cara Litke, Bryce Mittelstadt, Esther Seville, Montana Sawyer, and Shelby Sawyer. The following students won certificates for top performance in role plays: Ethan Atwood, Jon Bolding, Michael Chapin, Kaitlyn Dooling, Marissa Gonzalez, Marcus Linn, Tiffany Linn, Cara Litke, Bryce Mittelstadt, Jessica Novotny, Montana Sawyer, Shelby Sawyer, and Rebecca Thompson.
Students receiving trophies included: Ali Gobble and Shelby Sawyer in Business Services Operations Research; Morgan Kuykendall and Jon Bolding in Community Service Project; Jessica Fabrizius and Jessica Novotny in Community Service Project; Jarred Fuller, Marcus Linn, and Tiffany Linn in Financial Literacy Promotion Project; Ethan Atwood and Rebecca Thompson in Public Relations Project; Morgan Kuykendall, Montana Sawyer, and Elysha Baldwin in Principles of Finance; Cara Litke in Principles of Hospitality and Tourism, Ali Gobble in Principles of Marketing; Jon Bolding in Accounting; Jarred Fuller in Automotive Services; Tiffany Linn in Quick Serve Restaurant Management, Bryce Mittelstadt and Shelby Sawyer in Retail Merchandising; Michael Chapin in Sports and Entertainment Marketing; Bryce Mittelstadt and Cara Litke in Buying and Merchandising; Jon Bolding and Pearley Wells in Financial Analysis; and Ali Gobble and Shelby Sawyer in Travel and Tourism.

DECA’s International Career and Development Conference will be held in Louisville, Kentucky April 23rd-28th.
